San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance
I was commissioned by the Education Department at the San Diego Zoo to create some portraits for appreciation gifts that went to select Department heads at the zoo.
Art Direction by Sarah Barnard
For a horticulturalist recipient, I created a traditional still life with not-so-traditional specimens, notably tropical and exotic plants/flora that can be found in the botanical areas of the San Diego Zoo. The vase was inspired by Chinese/Japanese porcelain ceramics, featuring the zoo’s historical mascot Rex the Lion.
For one of the wildlife care team portraits that featured an animal ambassador from the Wildlife Explorers Basecamp area at the San Diego Zoo, I chose a tamandua (a type of anteater) having a fruit and ant-topped Dole Whip.
